Facebook has this wonderful little tool that brings up your past. “See Your Memories”, it likes to say. I have this love-hate relationship with the memories feature. Sometimes it brings up something that makes me laugh or smile, and other times it makes me roll my eyes and think, What was I thinking. But this time something good popped up in my memories- a scripture I shared four years ago today.
Quite often we stumble into pitfalls in life. A romantic relationship ends. We don’t do well in school. Someone breaks our trust. Death yanks away someone we love. Each of us knows what it’s like to feel lost, feel like we don’t belong, or feel like we can’t endure anymore bullets life shoots at us.
The one thing I can alway say is that God has a plan for each of us. We have to believe things are going to get better. Nobody knows their future, not even the souls who claim they can, while making a profit off of you. But God, he isn’t a man. He knows what blessings await you. He wants to bless you. Job, in the Bible, endured plenty of pain, from loosing his children to his body being struck with boils and sores. What baffles me is that he never lost his faith in God, even when he had reason to. Why is this happening, he must have thought. Could I hold out for as long as Job did- I don’t know.
Just as Jeremiah 29:11 says, the Lord wants us to prosper. And if you don’t want to look to Him, look to those people in your life who act as candles in your time of darkness. They want you to keep going.
No names, but to a friend who is uncertain about her future, I will always be here to remind you to keep going. I love you.
